ISP Painting is a national commerical painting company. All of their project management software is web based. That's where I come in. It's a smaller company so I had to wear a lot of hats doing maintenance and additions to the front end and back end of the software and handling system administrator needs.

• Created new features for our project management web applications in PHP, CSS, HTML, and jQuery
• Developed in an MVC standard
• Used PEAR for page templates and database abstraction
• Refactored legacy code to meet new standards, allowing for upgrades, and quick improvements with quality code
• Increased user friendliness by utilizing more AJAX than was previously present
• Developed in a LAMP stack and interacted with several different servers
• Built out additional LAMP stacks when needed
• In charge of Linux system administration utilizing VMware
• Used MySQL to build new and convert old tables into an existing infrastructure
• Maintained both of the public websites that are built using WordPress

Just5Clicks.com was an online application that monitored state level testing. It partnered with schools at the district level and helped track progress of children nation wide with everything from online testing to custom services and technology that read scantrons. I helped revamp their development environment and their codebase.

• codebase was not modular when I arrived, rewrote the codebase in MVC format
• Automated several manual tasks that were consuming much of the work day
• Architected and setup development and production environments using Microsoft technologies (WAMP stack)
• Optimized SQL queries for performance, relevance, and security
• Edited ASP.NET code at beginning but ultimately rewrote it into PHP
• Updated security by keeping certain things offsite, protecting from SQL injection, and enforcing better passwords
• Began to add new features
• Started the redesign of the SCHEMA

Sears Holding is a mix-match of several different retail sites. I had the pleasure of working on nearly all of them. This was the largest development team for me ranging from 2 to 30 depending on the project. It was very fast paced and dead-line oriented work. I worked closely with several other teams to bring the full picture of the site together while finding time to take care of things we wanted to get done.

• Started at Sears building ads in HTML, jQuery, CSS and ActionScript
• Handled daily workload in addition to special projects
• Deliverd quality code under tight deadlines
• Built internal applications for marketing department
• Moved to a more technical team building front end applications
• Added/Improved several jQuery classes to a library that was utilized by the front end development teams

Tom Rowe and Associates is a web development firm in Harlingen, TX that specializes in making websites for dealerships that sell industrial vehicles. That includes everything from riding mowers, to combines, to bulldozers. I had a great time here working with clients and starting from ideas or whisps of wind, working closely with people from across America and Canada to build out a fully functional site with widgets and add-ons before they were called widgets and add-ons.

• Built sites from conception to launch with client collaboration
• Refactored existing plug-ins into Flash to reduce site resource load by over 50%
• Made my own design documents and mock-ups in Photoshop and Illustrator
• Moved those designs into HTML and CSS
• Built interactive site code from scratch utilizing JavaScript and CSS
• Created micro-sites for new products

The Starcast Network was primarily a closed connection TV network that had video jukeboxes and video content displaying at bars all around the Chicago Land area. I originally started contracting for this company lending my videographer skills and was pleased to take up the roll of Video Production Manager when they offered it to me. I would find myself wearing several hats from web developer, to content designer, to script writer, and even to a manager; hand ling a small crew of videographers and editors.

• Built the user interface to a video jukebox using Flash
• Managed the front end of a streaming video site using Flash, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
• Designed and developed motion graphics under a tight schedule in After Effects, Photoshop, and Illustrator
• Managed a team of video editors and camera crews
• Purchased video content

Freelance work can be grueling but is always worth it. I primarily took on freelance work to just help get better at web development, and I must have be doing something right because I'm always back at it when referalls come my way or old clients have out grown their last site and want another bigger better one. It gives me a chance to stretch all my creative muscles and do something usually completely different from what I'm doing at work.

• First started building sites for local mom and pop shops primarily in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
• Moved up to building sites for non-profits and online start-ups utilizing PHP, HTML, CSS, jQuery, AJAX
• Began development in Dreamweaver, and then to a WAMP stack, and now develop in a three tier LAMP stack (dev, stagings, and production)
• Designed everything that was needed from logos to mock-ups to business cards
• Created custom built content management systems, including an email systemt and a video streaming site
• Wrote up contracts to handle terms and conditions of development work
• Bound web design mock-ups with contracts to insure no miss-communication
• Implemented shopping carts and payment portals
• Used Joomla! to build a CMS for a client with a cooking website
• Used Drupal to create modules for an advertising agency
• Have used WordPress to create several sites, most recently an author’s website/blog (twisting the framework to my needs)
• Currently working on my own framework to speed up freelance development

I've always loved taking pictures and videos since I was younger than I can remember. My first job I ever had was so I could buy a 8mm video camera. It seems only fitting that years later I'd purchase an HD camera and film whatever people will let me. Those things are commercials, weddings, birthdays, music videos, short movies, documentaries, and even a few feature length films.
